For a figure as famous and important as Michael Jackson, it was always going to be a challenge to make a movie about his life that appeals to his fans. However, I think that when people go to watch this film, they’ll be mesmerized by the cast and their performances.
The Michael movie, a biopic about Michael Jackson’s life, was released in theatres on April 24. It is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson, Miles Teller, Colman Domingo and Mike Myers.
Jaafar Jackson as Michael Jackson was one of the highlights of this movie. His acting perfectly captured Michael Jackson’s voice and personality.

Scenes like the recording of Thriller were almost identical to the real thing. There were emotional performances, like the Pepsi scene, where Michael Jackson’s hair catches on fire and burns his head severely. Jaafar captured the severity and emotional impact of the incident and how it affected Michael Jackson throughout the rest of his life.
Another actor worthy of praise is Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson. The makeup artist did an amazing job, making him look almost identical to Joe Jackson. His performance was amazing, as he made the character of Joe Jackson come back to life on the big screen.
However, the movie did suffer from things such as the exclusion of many important events during Michael Jackson’s life.
One such thing they glossed over during the movie was the abuse the Jackson children faced during their childhood by their father, Joe Jackson. Although they may have had their reasons for not including this, I feel like they at least should’ve talked about it or hinted at it because not only was it a big part of who Michael Jackson was, it could have brought awareness to child abuse.
The pacing was also a big issue for me that needed fixing. The movie quickly moved from one thing to another and rarely slowed down enough for the audience to connect with the movie.
Overall, the Michael biopic is full of iconic performances that will be remembered, but also full of issues that could turn people off from watching.
