The Starbucks winter menu was released on Nov. 6. However, Starbucks didn’t only release drinks, they also released winter merchandise such as ornaments, tumblers and mugs.
The Starbucks winter drink menu includes drinks such as the Gingerbread Chai Latte, Caramel Brulee Latte and Peppermint Mocha. According to Starbucks, the Praline Latte and the Eggnog Latte will come to Starbucks later on in the season.
I started out by trying the Caramel Brulee Latte, which tasted a lot like the Caramel Macchiato. However, it is a lot sweeter than the Caramel Macchiato, which has more of a coffee taste. I tried the frappuccino version of the Caramel Brulee and the regular latte had a better balance of sweet and bitter coffee. Along with that, it wasn’t too filling, unlike the frappuccino version. The frappuccino version is a 6/10, and the latte is a 7/10.
I then tried the Peppermint Mocha, but it didn’t really taste that good. The drink tasted watered down and had a slight peppermint flavor, but no taste of coffee or chocolate, so I rated it a 3/10.
I also tasted the Gingerbread Chai Latte, which was really good. However, it tasted pretty similar to the Pumpkin Chai Latte from the fall menu. The latte tasted more like gingerbread than the Chai Latte, which disappointed me. I rate the Gingerbread Chai a 7.5/10.
There was also the Iced Sugar Cookie Latte, which wasn’t too sweet but also wasn’t too bitter, which I really liked. It is very important to get the cold foam due to the fact that it had a very strong sugar cookie flavor. I rate it a solid 8.5/10.
The offered drinks are all good, and while I didn’t get a chance to try the Eggnog or Praline Latte, I hope to try them soon when they’re released. However, Starbucks has not stated when they will release the two drinks.
If I had to choose which drink was the best, I would have to say the Ice Sugar Cookie Latte because of the unique taste and the cold foam. I really liked that there were sprinkles in the cold foam, which was a nice touch, I would choose this as my go-to drink.
