Students are travelling to a multitude of places across the globe over this next Winter Break, from Lake Tahoe to England.
Winter Break separates the first and second semesters at Woodside and lasts from December 21, 2016 to January 11, 2017. It encompasses the holidays of Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years.
“I am super excited about going to Tahoe,” states junior Joe Balsama, “It’s like one of my favorite places.”
Another student, Emma McDowell, a sophomore, is also going to Tahoe over break.
“I’m so excited about it, I love snowboarding, especially in fresh powder,” McDowell says.
Not all students are travelling to Lake Tahoe over break though, some are going as far as England, like
Junior Evan Farrar is “going to England over winter break… to see family.”
Farrar is excited about his upcoming trip to England, especially about seeing family.
“I’m excited to see my family,” Farrar says, “I haven’t seen them in a very long time, to see my grandparents and my cousins and everything… that will be really fun.”
Farrar is not the only one going to a destination with family, Balsama’s uncle lives in Lake Tahoe and works at one of the many resorts in the area.
“My uncle lives there… [and] works at Squaw,” Balsama says.
McDowell’s family also owns property in the region.
She states, “I have a cabin in Big Trees, which is like 20 minutes from the resort where I ski at.”
Regardless of if students are spending time in the snow or visiting family over break, students look to enjoy and have fun over the three weeks without school.
McDowell knows she certainly will enjoy herself snowboarding in Tahoe, as she states “we bring friends along… Its kind of just like… lots of fun.”
