Girls’ Varsity volleyball beats San Mateo High School in an exciting beginning-of-the-season game.

Varsity Girls’ Volleyball kicked off their season on August 23, with the freshman and junior varsity teams following on September 7.

Players are excited and hopeful for the season and encourage students to cheer them on. In an exciting, recent match, the girls’ varsity team defeated San Mateo High School after winning three out of the four sets. Ellery Singleton, Woodside sophomore and varsity player, looks forward to their next match against a strong opponent in a much-anticipated game.

“I’m excited to play Hillsdale because they have a lot of seniors on their team that I know of, and they’re really good,” Singleton said.

The three girls’ volleyball teams play Hillsdale on October 14 in the New Gym, and their other games are every Tuesday and Thursday, with five remaining home games. Players are excited to bond with their teammates and compete again in the wake of COVID-19.

“I like the team aspect because you get to play with a bunch of people that you grow really close to,” Singleton said.

Support Woodside girls’ volleyball teams by attending games and donating to their team for new equipment, jerseys, and more.
