Many local restaurants become popular spots for students to hang out and socialize.
Some of the food hubs around our area became popular for students because they’re fast, close and affordable.
“I [like] Wing Stop or In-N-Out because they’re in the area and they are quick to get,” junior Marco Antonino said.
Students go to various places to get food after school or school events, but the atmosphere, as well as the food served, plays into the decision of whether or not students go.
“[A restaurant] has to look good and inviting for me to go to that place,” Antonino said.
People go to these food places because they know there will be other people there to talk to and socialize with. Students run into each other and get time outside of school to hangout and bond.
“There’s a social aspect too, like after football games a lot of people I know go to In-n-Out, so I just go with them,” senior Aaron Wilson said.
Places such as In-N-Out are usually busy, with many students going there to get a burger and talk to others while they eat.
“For In-n-Out, everyone goes there, so the atmosphere is fun and you see a lot of people you know, and you can talk to them,” senior Abby Clarke said. “With The Melt, the food is really good and comforting, with grilled cheese and tomato soup.”
Students express that it’s important for restaurants to be in the area which is what makes In-N-Out popular after football games and school events.
“Proximity-wise, these places are not very far, and it’s also well known that a lot of people go there,” Clarke said.
Food has been a way for students to interact and hang out, and make lasting memories.
“Food brings people together,” Wilson said. “They come together, they enjoy their meal, and have fun with one another.”
