If you’re looking for a post-practice treat or a late-night snack with friends at Red Morton, then Crepelicious is the stop for you.
By the Magical Bridge Playground and the soccer fields at Red Morton, the food truck is smaller and more compact than most, but it brings out big flavors. Two people run the food truck, one taking orders and the other making crepes.
I recently visited with my mom and I tried a vanilla milkshake ($7.05), a strawberry Nutella crepe ($12.75) and a night-night crepe ($12.75).
While the milkshake was a bit pricier compared to other places, the size and flavor make up for the expense. Since vanilla is a basic flavor, there is not much to do with it. Despite its simplicity, it was refreshing, especially after my lacrosse practice. It was not overly sweet either. I will note that despite being larger than my usual milkshakes, it was light on my stomach and did not fill me up completely before I got to my crepe. I’d give it a 7.5/10.
The strawberry Nutella crepe was messy and a bit tricky to eat, but that may be due to my lack of experience cutting crepes. The Nutella mixed with the fresh-tasting strawberries, which created the perfect balance of sweetness, made it super delicious. The crepe was overall well done despite being messy. A solid 9/10 rating.
My mom ordered the night-night crepe containing strawberries, blueberries, banana, Nutella and sour cream which she described as a “good night snack, like the name. I’ll finish it [if] you don’t try it right now,” she said. It was just as delicious as what my mom made it out to be. It was filling and satisfying. A good treat at the end of a long day.
Beyond food, the service was good and the employees were bilingual, so they were able to speak English and Spanish. This made the service accessible to more customers. They also gave me bags and utensils without having to ask. Sometimes I forget to ask, or the employees forget, and I am left with food but no way to eat it. They also had compostable containers, a plus for being eco-friendly.
They offer five sections to order from: savory crepes, sweet crepes, waffles, milkshakes and drinks. Drinks were priced at $3.50 each and included hot chocolate, lemonade, coffee and hot tea. The waffles had many flavors, including strawberry, blueberry, apple and chocolate waffles.
Despite having three customers ahead of me in line, the wait time was not long. My milkshake was ready within three minutes and the crepes were ready in about 15. A small downside was that the truck’s counter was a bit high for shorter people, like my mom who is about five feet tall. R.I.P. the short kings and queens out there.
While the prices seemed higher than expected, the quality of the food made up for it. The hours range from (4:00 – 10:00 p.m.) Wednesday through Sunday with Monday and Tuesday closed. If you ever find yourself at Red Morton Park, make sure to check it out. Some of their socials are crepelicious bay (alejandra huerta) on instagram and their website.
