I tried a Vegan Alfredo Pasta Bake recipe from the website “It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken”, I thought it was delicious.
I decided to choose this dish because I feel like there aren’t a lot of good vegan alfredo recipes out there and this one seemed good. I have been vegan my whole life and have come across a variety of recipes, I thought I would give this one a try. It advertised “Pasta noodles are tossed in a super luscious plant-based alfredo sauce, spread with homemade vegan mozzarella for the most impressive comfort food that will please any crowd (vegan or not).” This statement did not disappoint. The ingredients for this recipe were fairly accessible. I had almost everything already in my pantry except a few ingredients, like miso paste. The instructions were very clear overall. I only found one problem, they weren’t specific on what temperature I should have sauteed my onions at. I just cooked them until golden brown, like it said to do and it turned out good.
The food was fairly quick to prepare. I had to chop an onion, four garlic cloves and a bit of parsley. Other than that I just had to use some measuring spoons for everything else and cook the pasta. The recipe says that this should only take 55 minutes, they were correct. My timer to get the pasta out of the oven was exactly 55 minutes in.
The flavor was exactly as described, cheesy and warm. In my opinion it was delicious and all the flavors were well balanced. I think the onion and garlic really added a good flavor. Also the nutritional yeast added a good nuttiness to it. If I would change one thing I would probably add a vegetable like peas to just lighten it up a bit. Overall I give it 4.5/5 stars.
