Woodside Wrestling will got their competition season started with a bang Thursday as they headed to Hillsdale for their first dual meet of the year

The season has so far consisted of training, preps, two scrimmages, and a novice tournament back in December. Woodside senior and one of the team’s captains, Brynn Adasiewicz, says that the tournament, held at Carlmont before winter break, went well.

“The tournament was really good. A lot of our wrestlers got first place,” Adasiewicz stated.

As for Thursday’s dual meet, Woodside beat Hillsdale 36-36 on technicality, but lost to Carlmont 54-24 after a few thrilling matches went the wrong way. Adasiewicz has high hopes for this season, namely reaching some key divisional championships.

“We’re hoping to make it far. We’re hoping to at least have PAL, and hope that it doesn’t get shut down. And then we’re hoping to send a lot of our wrestlers to CCS,” she said.

Woodside’s next meet will be at home against Oceana and South San Francisco next Thursday in the New Gym. According to Adasiewicz, Woodside students should attend this one because of the positive vibes.

“I think that it’s a sport that not a lot of Woodside students know about, and I think that it’s important to represent another community at this school. I think that by going, you may find a sport that you do like or are interested in,” she suggested.

“It’s just overall a really fun experience to witness.”

Woodside Wrestling has their next meet against both Oceana and SSF on Thursday, January 20th in the New Gym.  The event is free to attend
