From Chappell Roan to Kendrick Lamar, The Paw Print’s April playlist on Spotify has a little of everything! Whether you’re in the mood for trendy hits or old time favorites, this playlist is sure to satisfy your music desires.
When creating this playlist, we took inspiration from our past traditions of creating staff playlists during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With a little encouragement from sophomore staff writer Teddy Ogishi, this activity is back and better than ever. While we all have very different and questionable musical tastes, this playlist offers insight into the chaos of The Paw Print newsroom.
“Sometimes I, for real, just be feeling Desparado by Eagles,” senior co-editor-in-chief Chloe de Leon said. “But I’m not desperate at all.”
For many in the newsroom, music is a constant topic of discussion, with many choosing to review the latest playlists or concert performances despite our co-editors-in-chiefs asking writers to differentiate their article topics. But, if you’re in the mood to learn more about our writer’s music tastes, check out these reviews and opinions: “‘MUSIC’ is a sloppy, disappointing mess” by Teddy Ogishi, “Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show was a hit” by Annie Stockton and “‘Balloonerism’ offers a refreshing taste of a young Mac Miller” by Teddy Ogishi.
“I love Chappell Roan’s hommage to her Southern roots in The Giver,” sophomore beat editor Elliot Hopkins said.
From the mastermind behind the reemergence of these staff playlists, here’s what Ogishi had to say about why he choose his song for the playlist.
“I choose Fancy by Drake because…I don’t know,” Ogishi said.
