Prom sales have been extended from its original deadline of April 1 now to April 15. This gives students one last chance to buy their tickets for prom.
Originally set to close just after spring break, ticket sales will now remain open until April 15. The decision to extend the prom sales window came after the school leadership recognized the need for flexibility among students.
“Some people needed a bit of time over the break to save money and clear detentions,” activities director Leslie With said. “Since it was going to be done for a few students we decided to open it up for all.”
The extension allows more students to plan ahead and take care of any outstanding requirements to get off of the “no-privileges list.” The new deadline still gives enough time to finalize attendance numbers with the planning team, according to With.
“The final headcount does have to be given to the event planner by the end of the week,” With said. “That’s why we do not sell tickets during the week of the event.”
Attendance numbers remain lower than expected. Tickets will remain on sale until April 15 with no additional extensions planned.
“Unfortunately this year numbers towards prom are very low,” prom-planning committee leader Cat Blume said. “Around 250 seniors and about 150 juniors are going. Juniors are really slacking this year; not many are going and I don’t know why.”
