Students have the opportunity to vote for the students that will be representing them on the Board of Student Affairs (BOSA) today.
Every year, the BOSA members for the next year are voted on by their fellow students. These selected students represent the school as a whole, helping to plan school events and manage the budget for such events. BOSA’s main purpose is to act as a connecting link between the students and the faculty of Woodside. There are 12 students in total running for BOSA, but only 6 were available for comment.
Mariana Morales (President)
Morales is in her second year of the leadership program. While she has not run for BOSA or class officer in the past, she wants to be a part of BOSA to be more involved with the school community. She wants to bring new perspectives and ideas to BOSA, and hopes to highlight school activities that aren’t as popularized as sports are.
“What I hope to achieve through being BOSA president is to…bring awareness to what BOSA and leadership does so students who aren’t involved have a better understanding as to what we do,” Morales said.
Yaniv Cauich Kuk (President)
Despite his lack of experience in BOSA, Cauich Kuk is pushing himself out of his comfort zone to run for President. His hope in pushing himself like this is to be a figure to people with anxiety, and help them get out of their comfort zones as well. He also wants to give more voice to the students of Woodside.
“What I hope to achieve is to give more voice to Hispanic voices,” Cauich Kuk said.
Marycarla Germano (Vice President)
Germano has never run for BOSA before, but has been a class officer for three years. This is her second year of leadership. Germano is extremely passionate about Woodside, and has a lot of pride for the community. Her main goal in becoming a part of BOSA is to help other students find their voice, and make sure that everyone is heard.
“I want to be someone who people can come to and talk to about changes they want to see or specific changes they want,” Germano said.
Brianna Mora (Secretary)
Mora is in her second year of the leadership class, and it is by far her favorite class. One of her favorite parts of the class is being able to connect with students in different grades. While this is her first time running for BOSA, she is very excited by the prospect.
“I hope to amplify the students’ voices and help students get more engaged with school activities and spirit,” Mora said.
Elizabeth Kautzmann (Secretary)
Kautzmann has been in the leadership class for two years, and has been class officer for three years. This is her first year of BOSA, but she believes her previous experience as class officer makes her a strong candidate. A part of her goals as a BOSA member is to encourage student participation and spirit in school events.
“I would love to increase our school spirit outside of the leadership program,” Kautzmann said.
Olivia Maurer (Secretary)
While Maurer does not have experience with the leadership program, she loves the appeal of it. She hopes to make her debut into the leadership community through BOSA, and would love to help manage and connect the school from a student perspective.
“I want to connect students and teachers,” Maurer said.
