On Jan. 30, at the I-Wing, Woodside will be hosting an elective fair for students to come by during lunch and tutorial to learn about their potential future electives.
This year the elective fair is being combined with the art boom, which is an event where art classes put their work from this year on display for people to come look at. These are being combined so students can see all the different things they could do or make when joining an elective of their choice.
“The elective fair is the opportunity for us to set up tables and have information available to students so that they can learn about all the cool classes that they can take next year,” Raphael Kauffmann, the art department chair and Digital Music Production teacher, said.
Through attending this fair, students can find electives they may not know existed. They also be able to see resources of the elective classes in person, such as the recording studio for Music Production, the Cameras students get to use in photography and ceramics wheels students use to make their pieces.
“If they take advantage of it, I think that they’ll make more, better-informed decisions about what classes they’re taking,” Kauffmann said.
Students can find electives that they can grow a passion for, according to Kauffmann.
“[These electives] can be a place where a student finds their passion and comfort zone for all four years of their time here at Woodside,” Kauffman said. “I’ve had students who’ve been in this program for four years, so if you don’t know about it, how are you going to find your spot?”
