The fun, the excitement, the joy. Homecoming proposals have long been an important part of the dance’s magic that the Board of Student Affairs (BOSA) hope to capture in their new proposal competition.
Until Tuesday, Oct. 22, Woodside students are able to submit their best homecoming proposals for the chance of winning some Woodside merch at the homecoming rally. The competition was developed by BOSA in hopes of promoting student involvement and anticipation for this year’s homecoming dance.
“We want a lot of student participation in events outside of leadership students,” senior and BOSA’s chief justice Isella Gapastione said. “We thought this would be a good way to get people more involved and excited.”
The competition is simple, when you propose to your homecoming date, snap a picture and submit it to the Google form at bit.ly/whsproposals24. Those who wish will be able to get their proposals posted to the project’s official instagram page, @woodsideproposals. BOSA, and the randomly selected teachers who will judge the competition, are looking for the most creative and original signs throughout Woodside.
“[The winner] will be announced during the homecoming rally. So Friday, Oct. 25,” Gapastione said. “We’ll give them their prize at the rally, and someone will be on the microphone [announcing the winners].”
The contest already has eight submissions so far. With proposal season in full swing, BOSA is hopeful in getting at least 20 submissions for this year’s homecoming. Though the competition may seem intimidating, Gapastione explained that it’s all very uncompetitive. No one should be scared of participating.
“It’s just like a fun kind of contest,” Gapastione said. “There’s no [student] voting, so people should enter.”
