As a member of the golf team, I can confirm that the season is starting off strong. After the first couple of practices, the golf team is looking promising and has a lot of skill from old and new players.
Woodside golf team coach Chris Dawkins started the season on January 30 with a meeting and discussed what practices are going to be like.
“This year we are using my indoor golf studio to help dial in the player’s swing and collect good data on how far clubs go,” Dawkins said. “We also will be playing practice rounds at Crystal Spring and Half Moon Bay Golf Courses.”
The team also got some insight on what schools to look out for.
“Burlingame and Aragon are the top teams this season,” Dawkins stated. “Carlmont has been developing a great program and they will also have a good year.”
The first match is on February 28 at Poplar Creek against San Mateo High School.
“We beat them last year in our final match,” Dawkins stated. “Hopefully we can get a good start this season.”
The team has some returning players from last season which adds strength to the current lineup.
“This year we are happy to have four players returning from last year’s lineup,” Dawkins said. “Our strength is the short game and our goal is to improve with our long game.”
It seems like the season is starting off strong: our first game is against a team we beat last year, we have had some good practices, and we have some returning players from last season.
“Anything is possible,” Dawkins said. “We have a good starting line up and believe these guys will have a great season.”
