This morning, Donald Trump accepted the oath of office to become the 45th president of the United States of America.
In front of the Capitol building in Washington DC, Trump spoke to thousands of Americans who held a mix of emotions ranging from pure joy to utter fear for their country. With his wife Melania at his side and the 44th president Barack Obama standing behind, president elect Donald Trump took the oath administered by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” recited Trump.
As Trump shook the hand of the chief justice, applause, cheers, and cannon shots rang out across Washington DC. In a matter of minutes Trump began his inaugural address, marking his first speech as the President of the United States
“We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people,” began Trump.
The President was met with several rounds of applause as a sea of people wearing “Make America Great Again” hats stood before him.
“You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before,” claimed Trump.
Trump addressed the current government several times and how he will change it, but he primarily focused on how he will fight for the people.
“Today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or one party to another. We are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people,” said Trump.
One of the most anticipated topics going into the inauguration was Trump’s post election opinion on immigration. It is clear to see now that nothing has changed in his global perspective.
“We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs,” explained Trump. “Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body and I will never ever let you down.”
Another heated topic that Trump addressed was the United States relationship with the Middle East and his general opinion on terrorism.
“We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate from the face of the Earth,” Trump exclaimed
Trump wrapped up his speech in a powerful manner, instilling confidence in his supporters who applauded him with every remark.
“Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done. No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again,” Trump yelled.
As we enter into the new year, Donald Trump takes power of the United States with the utmost confidence in himself and his responsibility for his country.
“We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny. The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans,” Added Trump
