The World Language Fair will provide students with a fun way to spend lunch, learning, playing games, doing crafts and participating in activities related to different cultures.
The fair will take place this Wednesday, Jan. 29 in the quad at lunch. Some activities available will be bingo, bracelet making, paper flower crafts, a selfie station and more.
Although not every activity is language based, the fair will give students a chance to learn a little bit about each language and their respective classes. All 11 world language teachers, spanning four different languages, will be at the event.
“I think that it’s always good for students to meet different teachers and [get to know] what their vibe is,” World Language Department Chair Karen Dorsey said. “[The fair will be] a good time to meet all the teachers and ask them any questions [you may have].”
Being in world language classes isn’t just about the graduation requirements; these classes also help prepare students for their futures.
“In today’s global society it’s always better to know multiple languages,” Dorsey said. “It helps you to communicate with more people.”
For those already in a world language class, the fair can provide them with an opportunity to get extra credit in their world language classes.
“[Students] will get a passport and if they participate in four activities, they will get extra credit,” Dorsey said.
The fair has been going on since before COVID-19 and world language teachers are thrilled to continue the event this year.
“We’re excited for everybody to come out, and we’ve been planning it for a long time,” Dorsey said. “We hope that everybody has a lot of fun.”
