Free SAT Is Offered to Woodside Seniors For First Time

For the first year ever, Woodside High School will offer the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) for free on College day, October 16. 
Visiting colleges such as the University of Washington, the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of California, San Diego handed out informational brochures to Woodside students.

High Heat Start of School Leads to Student Discomfort

This two-day spell of heat came after scientists announced in early August that July 2019 had been the hottest month ever recorded, knocking July 2016 off the top spot by about a fraction of a degree. Yet, The Redwood city-Woodside area didn’t suffer as much in July as it did in June, with highs reaching around 97 degrees during the first few days of summer break.
At Woodside, students of minority races are less likely to take Advanced Placement classes than their white counterparts.

As the school year comes to a close, Woodside’s profile for 2018 to 2019 reflects a fairly racially diverse student body. The majority of students are either Hispanic (49 percent) or white (40 percent), with Asian American, African American, Pacific Islander, and mixed-race students composing the remaining 11 percent.
