Emma Chiu, Coeditor in Chief February 14, 2019
Congress recently passed a spending bill, providing the United States government with enough funds to prevent another partial shutdown. Emma Chiu, Coeditor in Chief February 8, 2019
"If I vote this time, is he [President Trump] really going to go away?” Renita Bhartu joked as she headed towards the polls. She is one of hundreds of East Palo Alto residents who showed up at the city’s Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) last Tuesday, November 6, to cast a ballot in the midterm elections.
Midterm elections took place across the country on November 6, 2018. The Paw Print covered polling centers in both Woodside and East Palo Alto.

Minority races and religions, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and women gained seats in office and many citizens felt that, for the first time, their voices were being heard. To determine the effect that this representation had on the local community, the Woodside Paw Print visited polling centers in both Woodside and East Palo Alto.

Global Warming depletes 95% of Arctic’s Oldest Ice

Sam Brook, Managing Editor February 6, 2019
More than 95% of Antarctica’s oldest ice has melted according to the 2018 Arctic Report Card released by the Arctic Program on December 11th. The annual report touches on all arctic conditions ranging from ice loss and temperature fluctuation, to microplastic pollution and health threats. The report card reveals that the Arctic is breaking air temperature highs from prior years and is in no state to return to its cold, frosty conditions of the past. New risks, such as the sharp decline in landfast ice, rose in 2018 and already existing threats, like the progressing melting of Antarctica’s thickest ice, worsen the Arctic environment.

GSA Aims to Eliminate Gendered Graduation Robes

Liam Lee, Staff Writer December 21, 2018
Just before Woodside’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meeting, Woodside senior Zeejai Leonard borrows a bathroom key from English teacher Tony Mueller. Students who want to use a gender-neutral bathroom have to get a key to unlock it from a teacher and walk to one of the few staff bathrooms available for students of all gender identities to use. Going out of the way to find a gender-neutral bathroom is an experience that many of the members of the GSA are familiar with, and gender politics and issues of identity can be tough to navigate at Woodside.
